Saddle Clothe made of 100% Wool
Bavarian Wool with a padding made of lavalan®, the best wool filling from regional production, guarantees a 100% horse-friendly saddle pad. A saddle pad made of wool is good for your horse's back. It keeps the saddle area dry, is never too hot or too cold in all weathers, and helps to relax the back muscles. The anatomical cut fits any horse's back and saddle. Pure new wool is easy to care for and machine washable. Made in Germany. Wool filling, no polyester.
Why Do I Use A Saddle Cloth?
Saddle Pad and Cloth (Schabracke) differ only in the cut shape. While saddle pads are cut in the shape of the saddle, saddle cloths are angularly shaped towards the back and can therefore be combined more flexibly with different saddle models.
Our saddle cloth is cut like a classic dressage saddle cloth, which means it has no extra pre-cut like a jumping / eventing saddle cloth. It is generously cut and fits under saddles up to a seat size of 17.5 inches. This corresponds to the size Cob and Full.
But don't worry, the saddle cloth is elegantly cut and fits well on small horses like our Icelandic horses without hindering or swallowing them.
Uses for saddle cloths:
Appearance purposes, for the "dressage rider look".
Alternative saddle shape like: Baroque saddle, Ibero saddle, trail riding saddle, Edurancesaddle, treeless saddle, riding pad.
For trail rides, the additional surface offers the possibility of attaching saddle bags without them rubbing against the horse's back
Why Wool Is The Best Material For Saddle Cloths
A saddle cloth made of wool is good for your Icelandic rider's back. Wool can absorb an incredible amount of sweat - up to 30% of its own weight - and thus ensures a dry saddle area, which in turn cannot cool down. On the other hand, it never feels cold or damp, and you can put it on your horse even when it is wet. If it doesn't dry properly in winter or you get caught in the rain, that's no problem at all.
In summer, wool also protects against overheating under the saddle because it always maintains a neutral temperature and is extremely breathable. It ensures a healthy microclimate between the saddle and the horse.
This makes the natural material excellent for horses with sensitive backs. Wool activates blood circulation and has a relaxing effect on muscles and connective tissue.
How Do I Care For A Wool Saddle Cloth?
Due to its self-cleaning properties, it rarely needs to be washed . Depending on the intensity of use, every one to three months. This can be done in the wool wash cycle at max. 30 degrees.
A wool saddle cloth should be brushed out after every ride. It dries best when you take it out from under the saddle and lay it on the saddle with the wet side up.
