High-neck sweat rug made from 100% Icelandic wool

This rug is made from 100% authentic Icelandic wool - undyed, natural and sustainable. The Woolcomes directly from the island of Iceland - from the same harsh climate that shaped the Icelandic horse. It thus brings a piece of the Nordic homeland into the stable.

The particularly thick, voluminous fabric (900 g/m²) is an absolute rarity: Icelandic wool is otherwise almost exclusively knitted. For this blanket, however, it has been woven into loden - making it dimensionally stable, durable and machine washable.

The sophisticated Multipass*System ensures an optimum fit for a wide variety of body shapes. Three individually adjustable Velcro straps make it easier to put on and secure the fit. Our Sportsfreund sweat rug fits all Icelandic horses - as our many years of experience have shown: whether they are over 150 cm or under 130 cm tall.

Cooler rug inspired by Iceland

This rug is a tribute to Iceland - inspired by the raw, fascinating landscape of fire and ice. It has the characteristic look of Icelandic sheep, without any dyes or chemicals. The double-face fabric comes in either a light or dark natural color.

Fine details make the design special: the straps are made of cotton with a subtle glitter effect, while a sparkling piping provides an elegant finish. Black with copper-colored glitter is reminiscent of volcanic rock and lava, black and silver of glaciers and ice.

The elegant embroidery in icy silver tells of the origin of the wool, the Icelandic horses, and the deep cultural heritage of a country that is inextricably linked to its animals and the Viking Age.

Is Icelandic wool suitable for a sweat rug or therapy rug?

Icelandic wool rugs offer everything you could wish for in a high-quality sweat rug - and even more: they provide reliable protection against the cold, support to dry and help the horse to dry quickly.

Thanks to its even, natural warmth, it is ideal as a therapy rug: it supports regeneration after training, helps with muscle tension and improves blood circulation and oxygen supply to the muscles through gentle warmth. This is particularly beneficial for sensitive horses that get cold easily or are prone to muscle problems.

Despite its high insulating power, the rug remains breathable and thermoregulating. If it gets too warm, the wool releases excess heat to the outside - this ensures a stable, pleasant body climate.

The ergonomically designed cut with a close-fitting neckline and protective stand-up collar keeps the horse particularly warm. The collar can be folded down if required, revealing the natural inside of the double-face wool - a clever detail that harmoniously combines function and design.

How to care for your Icelandic wool sweat rug

Icelandic wool is naturally easy to care for: its speckled surface is dirt-repellent and almost self-cleaning - dust and dirt hardly stick to it. In most cases, it is sufficient to brush the rug out carefully.

If you do need to wash it, the blanket can be washed at 30 °C on a wool cycle. The fabric is pre-shrunk and its dense loden structure makes it resistant to water. Important: Close all Velcro fasteners before washing.

Please note: sweat rugs are not suitable for use in the paddock or in the box.
